EMERGING ADMINISTRATOR AWARD

The Emerging Administrator Award is a co-sponsored award with the Council of Administrators of Human Sciences. The award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated significant potential, as a new administrator in academia or extension, to make outstanding contributions to the family and consumer sciences/human sciences profession.
 
 
Award Criteria
Individuals nominated must have served no more than five years as a human sciences/family and consumer sciences administrator, must be a current member of the Council of Administrators of Family and Consumer Sciences (CAFCS), the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) and/or employed at a Board on Human Sciences (BoHS) member institution, and should have demonstrated achievements in a combination of the following areas through:       
      
      1. Service and leadership in a discipline-related professional organization.
      2. Significant professional contributions to their department, school, college or
          university.
      3. Publication of a body of scholarly and/or theoretical writing contributing to family and
              consumer sciences/human sciences' fields of study.
      4. Outstanding promise for leadership as evidenced by establishing new initiatives,
          strengthening existing programs, designing curricula, and/or authoring a text.
      5. Involvement in activities promoting collaborations or facilitating organizational
          change. 
      6. Demonstrated impact at the local, state, and/or national level.
 
 
Current BoHS Board Members and CAFCS Executive Committee Members and Directors are ineligible for nomination.
 
The award will be presented biannually at the BoHS/CAFCS joint conference. The award recipient must be able to attend the meeting, usually scheduled in early March, and give a brief presentation to the organizations. The recipient will receive travel expenses and appropriate recognition including an honorarium of $1,000. A joint BoHS and CAFCS review panel will evaluate the nominees and recommend a recipient to the BoHS and CAFCS Board of Directors.
 
 
Nomination
Nominations should be submitted electronically in a single PDF file. The nomination packet -- including all supporting docents -- should NOT exceed 15 pages in length and must include:
  1. Nominee information
    1. Name
    2. Full title
    3. University/college administrative position
    4. Home and office addresses, office phone and fax numbers, and email address
    5. Number of years of service in administrative position(s)
    6. Name and title of immediate supervisor
    7. Current resume or biographical summary of nominee, including awards, honors, or other relevant activities and recognitions
  2. A letter of nomination limited to three pages. The letter must include a description of the nominee’s  achievements and specific examples of how the nominee meets a combination of the award criteria.
  3. A statement of support from the nominee’s administrative supervisor (e.g., dean, chair, or director).
  4. A maximum of three letters of reference by individuals who are familiar with the nominee’s work and accomplishments.
  5. Name and contact information for the nominator.
